Purpose: The lectors proclaim the first two readings from the sacred Scripture and lead the Prayers of the Faithful during Mass. In addition, lectors will read any announcements at the conclusion of the Mass. 

Time Commitment: Lectors are expected to minister at one or two Sunday Masses per month. They should plan to arrive at church approximately 15 minutes prior to the start of the Mass. Additionally, the designated lector practices the readings on his or her own during the preceding week. 

Qualifications: In addition to being committed to the practice of the Catholic faith, it is necessary for the lectors to have the ability to read and speak well. Training is provided.
